William Beaumont Hospital Selects Mediware Information Systems, Inc. HCLL Transfusion Software to Manage Transfusion Services

LENEXA, Kan., May 31, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mediware Information Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:MEDW), an acknowledged leader in clinical information and patient safety software management solutions, announced today that William Beaumont Hospital has signed a contract for HCLL(tm) Transfusion software to help manage its Transfusion Services.

Frank Poggio, vice president and general manager of Mediware's Blood Bank Division, said, "HCLL(tm) will be a multi-site installation serving both Beaumont Hospitals located in Royal Oak and Troy, Michigan. Both hospitals will also use Mediware's Instrument Interface Engine (IIE) with their Galileo Instruments." Poggio stated, "Mediware has invested more than five years and over $10 million in the development of HCLL(tm) software, in anticipation of the complex patient safety needs of hospitals like Beaumont. We look forward to helping these world-class institutions to provide state-of-the-art transfusion services with HCLL software."

"Blood bank software is regulated by the FDA as a medical device and must meet strict criteria for compliance and safety," stated A. Bradley Eisenbrey, MD, PhD, chief of Transfusion Medicine Services at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. "We selected the Mediware HCLL product because of the relative intuitiveness of the user interface, breadth of product safety features, flexibility of application (within the limitations of a licensed device) and compatibility with existing and future laboratory and hospital information systems. The Blood Banks at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak and Troy believe this is the right software to take us into the next decade."
