LAXceptional Student Program Recognizes Students Who 'Fly High'

LOS ANGELES, June 3, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- There are more than just airplanes soaring over Inglewood, Westchester and El Segundo. There are also plenty of students in airport-area schools whose achievements have them flying high.

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will recognize these outstanding students through its LAXceptional Students Program, which recognizes students from kindergarten through 12th grade for exemplary efforts and/or achievements in any pursuit. LAWA has made it a goal to identify and acknowledge those students who "fly high" in their academic work or other areas of interest and inspire them to continue their success.

On June 7 and June 8, 40 students along with their parents and principals, will attend a recognition ceremony hosted by Los Angeles World Airports. The celebration will begin at 11:30 a.m. each day at the Flight Path Learning Center of Southern California, 6661 W. Imperial Highway, adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). All LAXceptional students will be presented with a certificate and letter, congratulating them for their accomplishments and increasing their awareness that success is recognized well beyond the classroom by the nearby business community.

Identified by their respective principals, LAXceptional students have earned distinction in areas including academics, music, art, drama, volunteer work, community involvement, athletics or civic activities.
