Wavestream Corporation Unveils Its PowerStream 16-Watt Fanless Ku-Band Deck Block Upconverter 'BUC'

Industry's Only 16-watt Fanless Ku-Band BUC Provides Twice the Power in the Same Compact Package as Standard Fanless BUCs; New Product Showcased During MILCOM 2005, October 18-20, 2005 in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Oct. 18, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Wavestream Corporation (www.wavestreamcorp.com), a manufacturer of a new generation of compact high-efficiency solid-state power amplifiers, today unveiled its PowerStream(tm) 16-watt Fanless Deck Block Upconverter (BUC). Wavestream's new product is the industry's only 16-watt fanless BUC for the Ku band. The PowerStream 16-watt Fanless Deck BUC is being showcased in the Wavestream Booth (#830) at MILCOM 2005, October 18-20, 2005.

"Today's launch of our PowerStream 16-watt Fanless Deck BUC illustrates our continued leadership position in designing cutting-edge products for satellite communications," said Chris Branscum, CEO of Wavestream. "With the only 16-watt fanless Ku-band BUC on the market, we provide unprecedented efficiency in a compact package for Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) and flyaway applications. We are pleased to be adding the 16-watt fanless BUC to our product line with its ability to handle the most demanding and severe environments found in commercial and defense satcom applications."

Packaged in a sealed, fanless enclosure, the PowerStream 16-watt Fanless Deck BUC complements Wavestream's line of PowerStream(tm) Ku-band amplifiers. Measuring 10" W x 5.5" H x 11" L, the rugged fanless BUC weighs only 23 pounds and can operate in extreme temperatures from -40 degree to +50 degree Celsius. Designed with no moving parts and remotely accessible monitor and control including Loss of Lock indication, Wavestream's 16-watt Fanless BUC offers true "install and forget" operation.

Wavestream's products use spatial power combining to eliminate much of the loss seen in conventional solid-state power amplifiers and provide extremely high efficiency for both Ka- and Ku-band communications. With plans to expand its technology beyond Ka- and Ku-band frequencies, Wavestream is poised to enable additional advancements in communications and sensing systems. The company offers solutions for a range of commercial and military applications, including satellite links, radar and terrestrial applications.

The new 16-watt Fanless BUC joins Wavestream's PowerStream(tm) 25-Watt Ku-band Feedmount BUC, another industry first. Also utilizing Wavestream's Spatial Power Advantage(tm), the PowerStream Deck Feedmount BUC puts 25 watts into a rugged eight-pound package that mounts on the feed for mobile and transportable satellite solutions. The PowerStream Deck BUC is smaller, lighter and more efficient than other 25-watt BUCs, fitting into a 7.5" x 5.2" x 8.4" package, that draws under 200 watts. This industry-leading efficiency in a rugged, affordable package provides a unique and compelling solution for high-availability and high data rate commercial and defense satellite networks. The PowerStream(tm) 25-Watt Ku-band Feedmount BUC will also be shown in Wavestream's booth at the MILCOM 2005 show.
