Trintech to Unveil New Pay-at-Pump System at Cartes 2005

Visitors to Cartes 2005 will be among the first to see the OpenPay UPT 4000, a large-screen unattended payment terminal for fuel retailer environments

DUBLIN, Ireland, Nov. 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Cartes 2005 at Paris, France -- Trintech Group Plc (Nasdaq:TTPA), a leading provider of transaction reconciliation and payment infrastructure solutions, will unveil its latest unattended payment terminal at the Cartes 2005 Exposition in Paris, France. The OpenPay UPT 4000 is targeted at petrol stations, convenience stores and supermarkets that need a compact, powerful pay-at-pump terminal that is compliant with the latest terminal security standards and technologies. Trintech's primary route to market for this product will be through channel partners including pump manufacturers, forecourt Point-of-Sale suppliers and retail system integrators.

Trintech specializes in building PCI and EMV certified, secure payment technology for retail customers and has a number of industry firsts to its name. The OpenPay 4000 pay-at-pump terminal is build on this success and brings secure payment technology to the forecourt. Channel partners and fuel retailers have emphasized the importance of ease of use, reliability and security to busy motorists using pay-at-pump and Trintech has incorporated this feedback into the design of the OpenPay 4000.

The product has a 5.7-inch colour-display with ATM-style selection keys that make the terminal easy to use. The terminal also has a LAN network interface allowing the retailer to stream advertising messages to the OpenPay 4000 for display while the motorist is filling-up.

The OpenPay 4000 uses rugged components and has a durable plastic case to ensure the terminal can withstand the harsh conditions encountered on an outdoor forecourt. Using plastic has also allowed Trintech to make the product more compact, allowing it to fit inside the major pump enclosures on the market.

Along with a chip and magnetic stripe reader, the product also has a built in contactless card reader and is Trintech's first product to offer integrated support for contactless payment schemes such as Visa Wave and MasterCard PayPass. With most regions expected to support contactless payment in the medium term, fuel retailers who select the OpenPay 4000 will be equipped to meet the expected demand by having their readers already deployed.

"Pay-at-pump is an area of the fuel retailing market where security requirements and technology advances are changing simultaneously." said Eamon Keating, General Manager of Trintech's Payments Division. "The OpenPay 4000 combines the recognized security of Trintech's OpenPay platform with an advanced technology platform that can adapt to business changes, which should ensure that the terminal will have a long life when deployed in the field."

Trintech will work with channel partners and systems integrators to integrate the OpenPay UPT 4000 into different pump housings and forecourt architectures. The product can be installed as an OEM module in new pumps or can be deployed as an EMV upgrade to existing pay-at-pump systems.
