Morris, Manning & Martin Partner John Yates to Lecture at Duke University School of Law

Course Will Train Students on The Business of Law

ATLANTA, Jan. 30, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Atlanta attorney John Yates will be a guest lecturer at the Duke University School of Law this Spring 2006 for the course "The Business & Economics of Law Firm Practice." The course focuses on the key elements for operating a law firm as a business entity.

"Duke Law School is leading the way in offering a course to assist law students in understanding the business of practicing law," Yates says. "It's important for law students to have a well-rounded view of both the law, and the business of a law practice," he adds.

Yates will cover the importance of business development in building a quality legal practice. He will also focus on professionalism and ethics in developing business, market segmentation and strategic law firm marketing.

"The course will provide students with an enhanced understanding of law firms as business entities in a competitive and increasingly global market," says Bruce A. Elvin, Assistant Dean of the Duke School of Law. "We're pleased to have someone with John's legal, business development and leadership skills to help guide our students, and give them real-world advice."

Duke is one of the nation's top ten law schools. Its mission is to prepare students for responsible and productive lives in the legal profession. Yates received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Duke, where he was an Angier B. Duke Memorial Scholar.
