The Adventures of Thalia, Poppy and Pepper -- New Children's Book Features Colorful, Earthy Characters

OTTAWA, Ill., March 27, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- In an unconventional new book for children, The Adventures of Thalia, Poppy and Pepper (now available through AuthorHouse), Amanda Kae Hope presents a story that can be read all at once or in sections and features a host of colorful characters.

"The Adventures of Thalia, Poppy and Pepper was a concept from my brother John, whose nickname was 'Poppy,'" Hope explains. "He wanted me to return to writing and asked if I would consider a children's story that would take place in Grand Marais, Minn. His encouragement and joy in sharing information about the North Woods piqued my interest."

Hope traveled to the region and soon fell in love with the quaint town that is the setting for her book. As the characters for her story emerged, each blended seamlessly into the surroundings. Thalia is a young girl with the imagination and desire to learn something from her every experience. A curious nature can be a virtue, but Thalia learns that it can also lead to danger or bad decision-making. She is the product of a loving Christian home and is fortunate to have Poppy as her best friend and mentor. Thalia shares her adventures with readers as she grows in years and toward a deeper understanding of faith, love, loyalty, hope and direction. "She will make you laugh, think, pray and learn," writes Hope.

Thalia's grandfather is Poppy, a man of great faith and the ability to teach. His life is filled with love and patience, and his greatest joy is found in the life and imagination of his granddaughter. Rounding out the main characters is Pepper, the "best, funniest, smartest and dumbest dog in the whole wide world."

"The Adventures of Thalia, Poppy and Pepper will warm your heart, bring back memories to older readers and help guide and educate younger readers and their educators," Hope says. "The stories will encourage you to learn and grow, yet to always be young at heart. It will help you to have faith in the forefront of every decision and step you take in this wonderful life."

A fun and educational read, The Adventures of Thalia, Poppy and Pepper presents earthy characters with just the right mix of adventure and interest for any age group.

Born in Ottawa, Illinois, Hope has been an avid reader since early in her life. By age 8, she was writing poems and short stories, sharing her talent with the local PTA and her church. She earned an associate's degree in 1969 and went on to the Professional School of Writing with the Palmers Institute of Minneapolis. The Adventures of Thalia, Poppy and Pepper is her second published book. More information is available at www.asupernewbook.com.
