TASER Device Helps Bring Self-Mutilating Man Into Custody

According to news reports from the Durham Region News, Durham police used a TASER(r) device to subdue 27-year-old Cory Patrick Deveaux on Rideau Street in Oshawa early Saturday morning. Deveaux was screaming in the streets and stabbing himself in the chest.

Police responded to reports of a distraught man in the area of Park Road and Bond Street at about 3:40 a.m. When Deveaux ignored officers' orders to release his weapon and made a move towards a nearby building, an officer deployed a TASER device to gain control of him.

Deveaux is being charged with threatening death and breach of probation among a number of other charges.
