TASER Device Halts Domestic Assault on Multiple Family Members

WASHINGTON, July 27, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from Seattle's KIRO-TV and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, local police responded on Tuesday night to calls regarding a 21-year-old Seattle man who suddenly began attacking his family with a meat cleaver in their Beacon Hill home. The family had just finished dinner and was gathered in the living room when the son appeared with the knife and began swinging it at his older brother, cutting him in the neck. The mother attempted to take the weapon away from her son but was cut during the confrontation. The mother, older son, his wife and their infant son were able to escape to a nearby bedroom. The man's father then walked into the home and he too was attacked and cut.

When police arrived they were met by one of the victims and found the son in the kitchen still holding the meat cleaver. Police asked the man to drop the cleaver but he ignored their orders. Officials deployed a TASER(r) device and were able to take the man into custody.

The family was treated at Harborview Medical Center and the son was booked at King County Jail and charged with domestic violence assault. Currently, there is no information as to the motive for the sudden attack.
