Harsco's Huennebeck Division Wins New Formwork Contract for Prestigious Skyscraper in Dubai

New Contract Underscores Harsco's Growing Access Services Presence in Rapidly Expanding Middle East Construction Market

HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its Huennebeck Group access services division is adding another flagship project to its Middle East order book, having been selected to provide a range of concrete formwork equipment and services for the new 76-story Al Attar tower, a 300-meter (984 foot) skyscraper that will become the second tallest building in Dubai.

The nearly $1 million award, which calls for a combination of rental equipment, sales and on-site project management, continues Huennebeck's growing involvement in some of the Middle East's most prestigious construction projects, led by Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building at a projected height at completion of approximately 800 meters (more than 2,600 feet).

Under the Al Attar tower award, scheduled to begin construction later this year, Huennebeck will supply its SCF self-climbing formwork system for the tower's poured concrete core walls, columns and beams, while Huennebeck's large-frame Manto formwork panel system will be used during construction of the building's center section. Part of a wide array of Huennebeck formwork designs, the Manto system uses special aligning clamps which connect the wall- and floor-forming Manto panels in a single action. This permits the multi-panel erection, alignment, and moving of Manto concrete forms up to 40 m2 (approximately 430 ft2) with a single crane lift. For applications at height, Huennebeck's SCF self-climbing formwork facilitates high-rise construction by providing hydraulically-controlled, vibration-free positioning without a crane.

On the Burj Dubai project, Huennebeck has supplied the plans and materials for the entire wall, soffit and joist formwork for the five to nine-story podium area as well as the soffit and joist formwork for the first ten stories of the tower itself. Huennebeck is also supplying formwork for construction of the Dubai Mall, now under construction virtually at the foot of the Burj Dubai tower. When completed in 2008, the Dubai Mall complex will become the world's largest shopping facility, housing over 1,000 individual retail shops in more than five million square feet of space.

Huennebeck's growing role as a complete formwork solutions partner to some of the Middle East's largest and most highly-regarded construction projects gives it an increasingly strong base to pursue additional projects, and also directly complements Harsco's corresponding presence as one of the region's leading suppliers of construction scaffolding and related access services through its SGB division. Acquired by Harsco in November 2005, Huennebeck is Europe's third-largest provider of highly engineered concrete formwork and scaffolding services for the construction industry. The acquisition has been accretive since its inception and further accelerates the strategic growth of Harsco's market-leading Access Services segment, which in addition to the international SGB and Huennebeck divisions also includes Harsco's North America-based Patent Construction Systems division. Last month, Harsco reported its best-ever quarterly performance from the Access Services segment, with new records set for sales, operating income and margins. The three complementary Harsco Access Services businesses operate from an extensive global network of more than 200 rental, sale and service branches in 27 countries.
