According to news reports from the Ann Arbor News, a 27-year-old man who officers had dealt with earlier in the evening for knocking over restaurant chairs on Main Street, attempted to commit suicide early this morning by slitting his wrists in front of police. Officers were called to the 300 block of South Main Street at 3 a.m. this morning to find a man leaning against a wall holding a carpet knife. The man, who refused to drop the knife, sliced his wrists two or three times before threatening to cut his throat. When additional officers arrived, the man responded by again slitting his wrist.
