Buffalo Delivers Superior Reliability and Increased Capacity With the New DriveStation Quattro

With Data Transfer Rates of Up to Three Times Faster Than Any USB Drive, Buffalo's DriveStation Quattro is One of the Fastest External Hard Drives On the Market Today

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- CES (BOOTH # Renaissance 26) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage, multimedia and memory solutions, today announced the latest addition to its high performance line of storage solutions, the DriveStation Quattro(tm) USB 2.0 / eSATA External Hard Drive. It is considered one of the fastest storage devices on the market today. The DriveStation Quattro is offered in capacities of 1TB (HD-Q1.0TSU2/R5) and 2TB (HD-Q2.0TSU/R5) and designed to make storage simple and secure for all scopes of users from consumers and students to graphic designers and IT professionals.

The DriveStation Quattro offers true data transfer rates of up to 100MB/s -- up to 3 times faster than any USB hard drive, which is typically only 25-35MB/s. It incorporates RAID-0, 1, 5 and JBOD (Spanning) for heightened performance, improved reliability and the capability to recover errors automatically. RAID Modes can easily be altered with the included Windows(r) and Mac RAID Utility.

"Consumers' growing obsession with downloading digital content and businesses increasing demands for protecting mission critical data, means storage and transportation of computer files must be fast, flexible and secure," stated Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global sales and marketing at Buffalo Technology. "As the leader in the worldwide storage market, we are committed to providing our customers with top of the line products to meet their digital content management needs. The DriveStation Quattro fulfills that need with a combination of simplicity, reliability and affordability with exceptional speed and performance."

The DriveStation Quattro USB 2.0 / eSATA External Hard Drive comes pre-formatted and includes AutoSetup technology, allowing seamless installation without the need to install drivers. The DriveStation Quattro makes operation even easier with its Auto On/Off feature, which automatically powers the product on or off with your computer. The product supports USB2.0, and eSATA, which allows you to attach an external hard drive directly into your system bus without having to convert to USB -- a conversion that takes a lot of overhead.

The DriveStation Quattro includes advanced security features such as RAID Password lock function, permitting only authorized personnel to access and change RAID settings. It also includes an alarm, which notifies users if a disk has failed, if a fan is broken or if a disk gets too hot. Anti-Robbery Security slots are provided in both front panel and rear panel. For additional security, the device also includes Buffalo's unique SecureLockWare(tm) technology, which encrypts and protects data stored on the device in the event it is lost or stolen and prevents unauthorized access.

The DriveStation Quattro includes four high performance 7200-RPM hard disk drives for maximum storage capacity. It also includes Memeo(tm)AutoBackup(tm) multi-language backup software for Windows, which runs in the background and automatically backs up files from your PC. Its sleek, sophisticated design makes the DriveStation Quattro ideal for any home or business environment.
