HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 11, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its SGB access services division has been awarded a major new contract valued in excess of $4 million to provide scaffolding and related access services for two years during the modernization and refurbishment of two major British Army garrisons in the south of England, at Aldershot and on the Salisbury Plain.
The contract from Aspire Defence, a consortium which includes U.S. contractor Kellogg, Brown and Root and U.K. contractor Carillion, is part of a major in-country initiative to upgrade housing and other facilities for the U.K.'s armed forces personnel. The project includes an extensive renovation of office and mess facilities and general living quarters.
Almost all of the scaffolding structures will be built using SGB's Cuplok modular scaffold system. SGB is the U.K.'s leading supplier of scaffolding services and equipment to the commercial building sector. Additional bidding opportunities are expected over the multi-year program, which is targeted to provide new or refurbished living and working accommodations to some 18,000 U.K. military and civilian staff.
