Harsco's Patent Division Selected for Access Services On Three Major Stadium Projects

HARRISBURG, Pa., March 1, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) said today that its Patent Construction Systems division has received major new orders totaling more than $1 million to provide a range of rental access equipment and services on three significant major league stadium projects now under construction in the New York metropolitan area.

The projects include the new Yankee Stadium; Citi Field, the future home of the New York Mets; and the Prudential Center hockey arena being built in Newark, New Jersey for the New Jersey Devils.

For the new Yankee Stadium project now underway just one block north of the current stadium it will replace, Patent's formwork will be used to support the cast-in-place concrete construction of the new stadium's enclosed lower concourse levels. Working as the project's primary formwork provider, Patent engineers have devised a solution for stacking double layers of the aluminum truss tables to speed workflow and reduce costs while providing easy access and increased safety for workers. On both the Citi Field and Prudential Center projects, Patent is providing and installing a range of rental scaffolding equipment and access towers throughout construction. The Prudential Center arena is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2007-2008 National Hockey League season, while the new Yankee Stadium and Citi Field are both scheduled to be ready by baseball's Opening Day 2009.

"We are honored to have a leading hand in three of the most prestigious stadium projects in America," said Patent's Executive Vice President and General Manager Robert Safier. "Each of these major venues provides another showcase for Patent's broad-based engineering expertise and comprehensive equipment solutions."

The Patent division is part of Harsco's $1.1 billion global Access Services business group, the world's foremost provider of rental scaffolding, formwork and other access-related services to the global non-residential construction, industrial plant maintenance, and energy markets.
