IBC Bank's Money Buzz Reaches More Than 520 Children Throughout Texas & Oklahoma

Kid-Friendly Financial Literacy Course Touches Communities in the Bank's Entire Network

LAREDO, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 24, 2007 -- This April, thirty-four IBC Bank branches across twenty-three Texas and Oklahoma communities hosted the "Money Buzz," a free kid-friendly lesson on personal finance for children ages 5-9 and their parents. These sessions were held in honor of Financial Literacy Month and as part of the bank's corporate-wide effort to fill a void in personal finance education among America's youth. IBC Bank hosted the exclusive lesson in their communities, and the program reached more than 520 children on Saturday, April 14 and 21.

IBC's Money Buzz was a two-hour lesson that focused on teaching children the value of American currency and the importance of saving. IBC employees guided children through the IBC Money Buzz workbook which provided them with an interactive, fun learning experience that included coloring, cutting and pasting exercises. Cindy Flores of Eagle Pass had two children participate in the lesson. "The Money Buzz is very neat, especially since this is the first time IBC has done an event like this," commented Flores. "The kids had a good time and I think this is something IBC should do again."

Special rewards were given at the end of the lesson including a coin bank in the shape of a beehive named after IBC's FreeBee mascot. All of the children also received a newly-minted $1 coin to start their FreeBee Hive savings, and more than fourteen $50 U.S. savings bonds were raffled off at the end of each lesson.
