AssistMed Acquires Patient Adherence Management Software Company

Enhances Patient-Centric Model; Addresses Significant Cost for Patient Non-Compliance

LOS ANGELES, June 25, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- AssistMed, Inc. today announced it has acquired Clinication, Inc., a North Carolina-based provider of patient adherence management systems. Terms were not disclosed.

Clinication's software-based solutions instruct, remind, and reward patients -- engaging them in a monitored, self-managed program designed to support long-term adherence with medication and self-care regimens.

"Patient non-compliance with healthcare regimes represents an annual cost of more than $100 billion in the U.S. alone. It has become a significant public health problem for ambulatory patient care," said Leonardo Berezovsky, M.D., chairman and chief executive officer of AssistMed, Inc.

"Clinication's innovative technology solutions, including web, mobile phone, e-mail and instant messenger patient interfaces, complement AssistMed's suite of patient-centric solutions that encourage the utilization of clinical information technology solutions to improve the delivery of healthcare," Berezovsky added.

He noted that pharmaceutical manufacturers, national drugstore chains and health insurers have a vested financial interest in improving patient adherence to medication and self-care regimes. "This acquisition further strengthens AssistMed's market position within the healthcare information services sector, and we look forward to further opportunities to expand the company's suite of products and technologies," Berezovsky added.

"This transaction is a natural, logical evolution for our company," said Adee Feinstein, co-founder and chief executive officer of Clinication, Inc. "Integrating Clinication's management solutions with AssistMed's world-class suite of health information technology products and services creates a new type of market presence -- one that is able to deliver community, regional, and global solutions, while maintaining the legacy of innovative patient-centric solutions offered by both organizations." Feinstein will serve as vice president of AssistMed's newly established Patient Adherence Solutions division.
