TASER Device Ends Suicide Attempt of Carnival Employee

According to reports from the Daily Times out of Farmington, New Mexico, a Frazier Shows employee who was working at the McGee Park carnival in San Juan allegedly stabbed his girlfriend in the neck before cutting his wrists Monday morning. The incident began around 9:30 a.m. after a domestic dispute erupted inside a semi-tractor trailer between the suspect and his girlfriend.

"He had a knife and he cut her up underneath her chin," said Sgt. Brian Johnston. "He kept swinging at her and she tried to block him. She told this person she couldn't breathe, and he let go on her a little bit."

The woman was finally able to break free and run from the trailer, leaving the suspect inside. A lieutenant entered the trailer to find the man inside with a knife. He then turned the knife on himself and threatened to kill himself. Police tried to calm the man who failed to drop the knife and responded by cutting both of his wrists. A TASER electronic control devices was used to subdue the suspect and prevent further bodily harm.

The man was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center for treatment. Investigators are seeking a mental evaluation.
