HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 23, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Worldwide industrial services company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its Board member Kathy G. Eddy has been named one of two recipients of the 2007 Gold Medal for Distinguished Service from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the highest award granted by the AICPA.

Ms. Eddy joined the Harsco Board of Directors in August 2004 and currently serves as Chair of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. She served as Chairman of the AICPA Board of Directors from 2000 to 2001 and has served on the AICPA Board, governing Council and numerous committees, including the Audit, Finance, Compensation, Strategic Planning, State Legislation and the Special Committee on Mobility. She has also served as Chair of the AICPA Special Committee on State Regulation. In addition, Ms. Eddy has been active in her home state serving as President of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and as President of the West Virginia Board of Accountancy.
