McObject Adds Chief Operating Officer to Ramp Up for Growth

ISSAQUAH, WA--(Marketwire - December 4, 2007) - McObject®, a developer of groundbreaking database software for embedded systems and intelligent devices, has appointed veteran software executive Christopher J. Mureen as chief operating officer with primary responsibility over sales and marketing.

Mureen reports directly to McObject CEO and Co-founder Steven Graves. His tasks include building and managing McObject's sales force to leverage the company's early successes in the embedded software market, creating effective alliances and marketing programs, developing new sales channels, and building and executing an international strategy to increase the non-U.S. contribution to McObject's revenues.

"Chris has deep experience building and managing sales teams in fast-growing operations, and in ramping up revenue. With line and executive positions in our embedded database market segment, and proven entrepreneurial accomplishments, he greatly rounds out McObject's skill set," Graves said.

"McObject has an established customer base, revenues and profitability. We are on the cusp of very fast growth. I am looking to Chris to leverage our visibility/brand recognition, and help build the organization, to make that growth a reality," Graves said.

Mureen brings to McObject a track record of more than 20 years in software sales, marketing and business development in both startup and established companies. He served as senior vice president for worldwide sales and support at embedded software tools vendor Metrowerks (owned by Motorola SPS, which became Freescale Semiconductor), where he led acquisition integration and sales growth that exceeded 300% in four years. Prior to Metroworks, he led similar growth at data management companies Pervasive Software (which completed its initial public offering during this period) and Simba Technologies, which was acquired by Pivotal Software.

Mureen was vice president for worldwide sales at Surgient, where he built the worldwide sales organization and established Surgient as the leader in Virtual Lab automation, and at Platespin, a virtualization software company targeting data centers. He also led sales at embedded database vendors MDBS, Inc. and Raima Corporation during periods of fast growth.

"The need for a small footprint, high performance database system is growing rapidly, due to increasing demands on embedded and handheld devices -- and their resulting expanded features -- along with the growth in enterprises' data volume," Mureen said. "McObject is in a unique position, with proven products and market acceptance, to take advantage of this trend. I am very excited to join McObject's seasoned team and to help the company continue its rapid growth."

McObject develops the eXtremeDB™ in-memory embedded database system, the first database optimized for the high performance demands and minimal resource (RAM and CPU) availability of embedded systems applications. With a tiny code footprint (as small as 50K), eXtremeDB supports the data-hungry features of next-generation set-top boxes, communications equipment, industrial automation, consumer electronics, military/aerospace applications and other intelligent embedded systems.

eXtremeDB accelerates processing by storing and working with data entirely in main memory. It delivers critical data management features, including a high level data definition language, concurrent access, transactions, support for the SQL application programming interface, and flexible indexing, to name a few.

Since eXtremeDB's launch five years ago, technology leaders including Boeing, Tyco Thermal Controls, F5 Networks, Seagate Technology, NexTone, Motorola and many others have licensed the database system to integrate with their own products. Examples of commercially available eXtremeDB-based products include portable audio players from JVC, SOMA Networks' WiMAX base stations, and Siemens and Phillips mobile phone handsets.

McObject has continually upgraded eXtremeDB and now provides special-purpose editions such as eXtremeDB High Availability (HA) for fault-tolerant applications, eXtremeDB Transaction Logging, and a 64-bit eXtremeDB that supports databases hundreds of times larger than the original 32-bit. Leveraging its leadership in all-in-memory embedded databases, McObject released eXtremeDB Fusion, a hybrid product that combines on-disk and in-memory data management in a single database system. This unparalleled flexibility enables developers to tailor data management for speed and persistence, while taking advantage of the most cost-effective and physical space-conserving approaches to data storage.

McObject also now offers Perst, a high performance embedded database system for development in Java and in Microsoft's .NET Framework.
