Patient Portal Technologies Appoints Rounsevelle W. Schaum as a Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee


BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y., April 28, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Patient Portal Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:PPRG) announced today that its Board of Directors had appointed Rounsevelle W. Schaum, Chairman of Newport Capital Partners, as a Member of the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the newly-created Audit Committee. Mr. Schaum will assist the Company as it establishes and implements the corporate governance committees and procedures which will be required for qualifying the Company's securities for listing on the American Stock Exchange.

Mr. Schaum, the founder and Chairman of Newport Capital Partners, is a specialist in the management and financing of emerging growth companies. He is a graduate of Phillips Andover Academy and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School. He was also a member of the faculty and Defense Research Staff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he participated in the development of the computer programs for the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System.

He is also the Chairman and CEO of Newport Global Technologies, Inc., a director and Chairman of the Audit and Compensation Committees of The Quigley Corporation (Nasdaq:QGLY) and was a founder, director and treasurer of Streaming Media Corporation, recently acquired by Akamai. He was also the Chairman and CEO of BusinessNet Holdings Corporation and has served as a crisis manager for Heller Financial Corporation. He also served on the District Advisory Council of the U.S. Small Business Administration; as Chairman of the California Small Business Development Corporation, a private venture capital syndicate; and was the founder and Managing Director of the Center of Management Sciences, a consulting firm serving the aerospace industry. He was the principal author of the "Weapon Systems Management Guide" under contract to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and a consultant on project management procedures to the Departments of the Army, Navy and Air Force, and numerous defense contractors, including General Dynamics, MacDonald-Douglas, Raytheon, Hughes Aircraft and the Logistics Management Institute. He also served as the Project Manager under contract to the State of California for the master planning and scheduling of the California Water Project and the Los Angeles Rapid Transit System.

Mr. Schaum resides in Newport, Rhode Island, where he has been active in civic affairs. He is a director of the Fort Adams Trust, a member of the Naval War College Foundation, the International Yacht Restoration Society, the Newport Reading Room, and is a former director of the Newport Historical Society.
