SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 22, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), the market leader in advanced electronic control devices (ECDs), today announced that it received several recent large follow-on orders. The first order announced is for Australia where they ordered 299 TASER(r) X26(tm) Electronic Control Devices (ECDs) and related accessories. Specifically, 229 TASER X26 ECDs and 229 TASER(r) CAM(tm) units are for the New South Wales Police Department, the largest law enforcement agency in Australia. The third order received was for the Kentucky State Patrol in Frankfort, KY, for 191 TASER X26 ECDs and related accessories. The fourth order received was for the Honolulu Police Department in Honolulu, HI for 59 TASER X26 ECDs, 59 TASER CAM units and related accessories.

"Following a successful two year trial, we are pleased to see the New South Wales Police Department expand their current program with our field-proven TASER(r) technology," commented Tom Smith, Chairman and Founder of TASER International. "We are further glad to see the continuing follow-on domestic orders of our life-saving technology to reduce injuries to both officers and suspect and while protecting life here in the U.S."

New South Wales Police Minister David Campbell was quoted in a story that was released by Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday, May 18, 2008. (http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/officers-to-adopt-shock-tactics/2008/05/18/1210765250708.html) "This is a less-than-lethal option, which can be used by police to subdue dangerous offenders and resolve volatile situations, making the streets safer for NSW families," Campbell said.

In that same article, The Police Association President Bob Pritchard said, "TASERs are about giving police a non-lethal option in the most dangerous situations - where human life is at stake. The fact too often forgotten in this debate is that TASERs save lives."

These orders are expected to ship in Second Quarter of 2008.
