EnviroLogix Announces Isotyping Tool for Hybridoma Labs

New IsoQuick Kit for Mouse Monoclonal Isotyping Is Flexible, Fast, Easy to Use

PORTLAND, ME--(Marketwire - May 28, 2008) - EnviroLogix Inc., a leader in the development and manufacture of diagnostic test kits using immunoassay technologies, released a new product today to assist hybridoma labs in the isotype classification of Mouse Monoclonal Antibodies (MAbs). The new IsoQuick™ Kit for Mouse Monoclonal Isotyping is a lateral flow device (LFD) that EnviroLogix created and optimized for fast, accurate isotyping of MAbs.

IsoQuick is comprised of three LFD strips to provide optimum flexibility, convenience and speed for users. Beta users responded positively to this new tool citing both the flexibility and the cost effectiveness of the IsoQuick strips.

While there are a number of isotyping tools in the market, EnviroLogix found that they were either too expensive, too inflexible, or did not provide all of the classification information they and other hybridoma labs needed. Terry Goddard, Manager of Rare Reagents for EnviroLogix, identified the need for this product for her lab. Working with the internal design team, the end result, according to Terry, is "exactly what we needed."

In developing the IsoQuick Kit for Mouse Monoclonal Isotyping, EnviroLogix recognized the needs of labs at different times in the MAb development and production cycle. The speed and flexibility of the three strips addresses these important needs.

IsoQuick allows the user to test directly in the materials being developed without complicated or time-consuming sample preparation. The test can be completed in five minutes or less. The Kit is composed of three separate strips (LFDs) that detect different heavy chain and light chain isotypes. They can be used independently or in sets, and are configured as follows:

-- IgG Strip - IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b, IgG3 isotype subclasses

-- IgA/M Strip - IgA, IgM isotype classes

-- K/L Strip - kappa, lambda isotype lightchains

According to Steve Kovacs, Senior Scientist at EnviroLogix and the principal scientist responsible for the design and development of IsoQuick, "The idea was to give the user flexibility and convenience in both what they tested for and how the test was applied. The IsoQuick Kit for Mouse Monoclonal Isotyping delivers the level of accuracy and sensitivity of other isotyping tools, but with an ease of use and cost effectiveness other tools cannot deliver."

According to Bruce Ferguson, President of EnviroLogix, "The development of IsoQuick shows the strength of our knowledge of immunoassay design and the capability of our development team." Ferguson continued, "While originally intended to solve a problem in our internal production processes, we quickly recognized the opportunity for this product in the market and created a really nice tool for labs developing or manufacturing mouse monoclonal antibodies."

EnviroLogix sent samples of the IsoQuick Kit to fifty prospective users -- and the response was overwhelmingly positive. According to one, "we have been looking for a reliable isotyping test that was easy to use and dependable. We were very impressed with the speed, flexibility and accuracy of IsoQuick and have adopted it for use in our lab."

The IsoQuick Kit for Mouse Monoclonal Isotyping is available directly from EnviroLogix. Technical and ordering information can be found on their website at www.envirologix.com/IsoQuick or by calling 866-408-4597. IsoQuick strips can be purchased in canisters of 5 and 25 strips, and a Kit of 5 of each of the three strips is also available.
