Edgewater's Pacific Scallops Win "Superior Gold Medal" From Leading North American Culinary Organization


GAITHERSBURG, MD--(Marketwire - June 2, 2008) - Edgewater Foods International, Inc. (OTCBB: EDWT), the first fully integrated shellfish producer with the largest private marine research hatchery in Canada, today announced that the Company's proprietary lead product, Pacific scallops, has received the "Superior Gold Medal" from American Masters of Taste, a leading independent culinary evaluation organization based in California.

The Pacific scallop is a unique scallop with significantly increased growth, yield and disease resistance. Island Scallops Ltd. ("ISL"), a subsidiary of Edgewater Foods International, is the sole source of Pacific scallop seed in the world.

The protocols of "triple blind" judging are designed to ensure accurate and fair judging results. Evaluators do not know:

1.   Who the manufacturer is.
2.   What the product variety or appellation is.
3.   What the other evaluators' scores and comments are.

The judging, announced May 23, 2008, was part of the ongoing U.S.A. Taste Championships founded in 1989 with the establishment of the Chefs in America Awards Foundation, whose professional Board Members gather weekly to conduct taste tests on a myriad of foodservice and retail grocery products.

Edgewater is focused on expanding future crops of its proprietary Pacific scallop, leveraging ISL's new processing facility (located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia), continuing infrastructure improvements, and increasing sales and marketing efforts. It also intends to leverage its proprietary hatchery technology to begin sablefish (black cod) production and ultimately enter the sablefish market in a significant way.
