BRIGHTON, England, June 17, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Futuremedia Learning, a leading e-learning provider and a division of Futuremedia plc (OTCBB:FMDAY), will showcase its work with clients in building successful Next Generation Learning Communities in an event held in London this June. Learning Communities in Action (26th June, Southbank Centre, London) is a knowledge-sharing workshop featuring client case studies and a presentation by the Bupa Learning & Development team.
Next Generation Learning Communities put learners at the centre of their own development, enabled by Web 2.0 technology. Speakers will describe how the key trends of personalisation and community are driving the development of online learning communities, using widgets and information mash-ups to transform the way users interact with learning content and with their organisations' Learning Management Systems. A panel discussion will allow the audience to put questions and share their own experiences in building learning communities.
Andrea Miles, Managing Director of Futuremedia Learning said: "Learning Communities are a hot topic in e-learning right now, and we have been doing some really ground-breaking work with clients which we're looking forward to sharing with a wider audience. The UK has really taken to Web 2.0 phenomena like Facebook and iGoogle, and the changes in ordinary people's online habits that this is bringing about make it possible now to take a more learner-centred approach in e-learning. Things which up to now have been just theoretical are finally happening in practice -- and driving real successes in People Development for the organisations we work with."
The event is aimed at practitioners in Learning & Development departments. The majority of delegate places were booked up straight away through early announcements to Futuremedia Learning's own learning community; however, a limited number of delegate places are still available. Email Lucy Perry at tellmemore@futuremedia.co.uk to apply for registration at the event. More details are available on the Futuremedia Learning website at www.futuremedia.co.uk.
