Ferris Research Releases Report on Ensim Unify

Report Finds Implementing Unify Framework Is Recommended for Insulating Microsoft Infrastructure

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - July 29, 2008) - Ensim Corporation, the leading provider of user provisioning and access control software, today announced that Ferris Research, a San Francisco-based market and technology research firm, has released a report on Ensim Unify. Unify is the company's system management framework for protecting the management of mission-critical infrastructure applications, including Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory (AD) and mobility gateways, such as BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and Windows Mobile.

The report, entitled "Ensim Unify: Automating the Health of a Microsoft Infrastructure," outlines the issues and challenges that messaging managers face and how a scripted framework can address them. According to Richi Jennings, Ferris Research analyst, the idea behind Unify is to help IT managers reduce their total cost of ownership (TCO) and provide better service to their users, while improving operations. This is accomplished by offering:

-- Greater consistency. Command bundling helps all IT and help desk staff
use the same methods to perform administration tasks.
-- Faster responsiveness. Messaging managers can delegate certain
operations to junior-level staff, which speeds user requests. Some
operations can even be made self-service.
-- Higher availability. Unify guards against common configuration errors
that can harm performance or cause servers to crash.
-- Stronger security. It also guards against configuration errors that
    open exploitable security holes.

Ensim Unify automates day-to-day administration of mission-critical infrastructure applications by allowing IT managers to delegate administrative tasks to employees based on their role, thus freeing up IT resources and decreasing help desk calls.

"It's a good idea to implement a framework for managing AD, Exchange, BES, and the like, using repeatable, expert-defined processes with rollback and task delegation," concludes Jennings in the report. "For organizations without such a framework, Ensim offers the opportunity for organizations to buy such a framework, probably at a lower cost than building the in-house equivalent."

"We are pleased to have a highly respected firm such as Ferris validate our Unify technology," said Francois Depayras, vice president of marketing and alliances at Ensim. "The report acknowledges the compelling benefits and impact that come from implementing such a framework, especially when it comes to protecting and maintaining the health of an organization's IT infrastructure."
