Advanced Control Systems Responds to Severe Midwest Floods With Record Breaking Delivery Time for ITC Midwest

ATLANTA, Aug. 14, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Advanced Control Systems, Inc. (ACS), a leading provider of smart grid automation and system solutions to global utilities, recently completed an expedited delivery of two ACS substation automation systems to ITC Midwest LLC, a subsidiary of ITC Holdings Corp. (NYSE:ITC), in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In response to the widespread flooding that overtook Eastern Iowa in early June, ACS accelerated the design, configuration and delivery of replacement systems to ITC Midwest from a normal schedule of 90 days to less than 10 working days.

The historic flooding caused record-breaking river levels that forced tens of thousands to evacuate and cost communities millions of dollars in estimated damages. Following the restoration of power supply to delivery companies servicing residents of these devastated communities, ITC Midwest collaborated with ACS to rapidly configure replacement high voltage transmission substation automation systems for several key facilities.

As a result of the flood damage suffered by the company's transmission facilities, ITC Midwest contacted ACS to request the emergency delivery. ACS then quickly mobilized a dedicated "tiger team" working extended hours to dramatically shorten the process required to design, test and ship the replacement systems.

Responding to the urgent needs of ITC Midwest, ACS broke all previous delivery records for a newly designed system, and successfully expedited the shipment of the two very large, freestanding Connex 30 systems in less than ten working days.

Steve Stout, director of asset management at ITC, commented, "The unparalleled responsiveness of ACS and the ability to deliver a top quality product demonstrates the commitment ACS has to the customer. Supplier flexibility and product support are key considerations for ITC suppliers and ACS continues to deliver."

ITC Holdings Corp. (NYSE:ITC) invests in the electricity transmission grid to improve electric reliability, improve access to markets, and lower the overall cost of delivered energy. ITC is the largest independent electricity transmission company in the country. Through its subsidiaries, ITCTransmission, Michigan Electric Transmission Company, LLC (METC) and ITC Midwest LLC, ITC operates regulated, high-voltage transmission systems in Michigan's Lower Peninsula and portions of Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Missouri serving a combined peak load in excess of 25,000 megawatts.
