HipLink Licensed by Toronto Police Services for Comprehensive Emergency Alerts

System Targeted for First Responders as Well as Mass Notification for Toronto Citizens

LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 16, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Semotus Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB:SMOA), an innovative leader of software solutions for enterprise mobility, today announced the Company's software alerting solution, HipLink, has been purchased by Toronto Police Services as its comprehensive emergency messaging solution for all of Toronto's personnel and citizens. The turnkey deployment is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2008 and includes the most advanced HipLink features including full voice, the new web sign-up module, GIS technology and full departments.

The Toronto Police Service has grown to become a world-class police agency serving one of the largest cities in North America and one of the most multicultural in the world. It has expanded to over 7,400 uniform and civilian members, with 17 divisions and dozens of support squads and units.

The Toronto Police Service is replacing its existing system with the new Police and Community Automated Notification System (PCANS) by using Semotus' HipLink software. The objectives of this project are two fold. For citizens: being able to provide a web-based sign-up page in conjunction with phone data to provide a comprehensive, effective system of getting messages out to a broad range of individuals. For TPS Personnel: A highly reliable system of adding multiple communication methods that provides for enhanced coordination of resources. The HipLink software product provides a centralized solution that can be accessed from anywhere to activate response plans, with complete logging of data and transactions for analysis of the organization's response.

Michael Gottschalk, Staff Sergeant at Toronto Police Services and Project Manager of the PCANS project, stated, "We are very pleased to have selected Semotus as our partner in this very important endeavor. The HipLink software will provide our Service with a comprehensive communications portal designed to communicate both internally and with community members we proudly serve. The Toronto Police Service is committed to being a world leader in policing through excellence, innovation, continuous learning, quality leadership and management. Our commitment is only strengthened through this partnership and we look forward to a successful implementation."

Semotus President Pamela LaPine stated, "Semotus is extremely pleased at winning the Toronto RFP and adding an organization like Toronto Police Services to our growing list of customers. It is a pleasure to work with an organization that is proactive in using technology to meet today's demanding standards in emergency notification and communication. We're very excited about the core role HipLink will play in Toronto Police Services' emergency notification and communication strategy.
