Initial Order for 5,000 TASER X26 Units

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 5, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TASER(r) International,
Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), the market leader in advanced electronic control devices,
today announced that it received an initial order from the United Kingdom for
5,000 TASER(r) X26(tm) Electronic Control Devices (ECDs) and TASER related
accessories following the announcement last month by the United Kingdom Home
Secretary to provide 10,000 TASER devices for front line law enforcement
officers throughout England and Wales.

"The United Kingdom's expansion of its TASER program comes after years of
careful consideration and pilot programs proving the positive effects and
life-saving capabilities of the TASER technology," said Tom Smith, Chairman of
TASER International. "United Kingdom law enforcement agencies have led the way
throughout Europe in terms of extensive testing, training and use of TASER
technology. This order will further improve public and officer safety
throughout the United Kingdom," concluded Smith.

TASER ECDs are currently deployed by more than 13,500 law enforcement agencies
in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Korea and more than 40
other countries worldwide.

The order shipped in the fourth quarter of 2008, driving total shipped revenue
for the quarter estimated to approximately $25 million.
