Life Saved in Dangerous Texas Standoff as Police Use a TASER Device

According to an article in the January 9, 2009 edition of the Brownsville Herald entitled "Officers' use of new Taser saves man from bullets," a Port Isabel, Texas man was safely taken into custody on January 1, 2009 when officers used a TASER ECD device. The armed suspect was apprehended after an extended car chase and police standoff.

According to Laguna Vista Police Chief Robert McGinnis, "That TASER definitely saved the man's life." He continued to say, "And maybe innocent lives as well." Laguna Vista Police Lieutenant Lonnie Cook added, "Tasers save more lives than anything else we use."
