NKK Switches Announces the New NP01 Series Subminiature PCB Illuminated Pushbuttons

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - March 9, 2009) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer
and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switching devices, today
released the new NP01 Series of smooth actuation subminiature pushbutton
switches. Available in both illuminated and non-illuminated versions, the
series is designed to be highly reliable and aesthetically pleasing.
Utilizing a single LED, the NP01 switches offer full illumination that can
be specified in red, green or amber, or a bicolor LED with a red/green
combination. Non-illuminated versions feature caps available in black,
white, red and gray. Caps are 12mm square and can be specified with clear
lenses and matching colored diffusers, or with white diffusers to match any
color.
The smooth touch actuation of the NP01 Series is achieved through the use
of a patent pending, uniquely designed mechanical silicon rubber structure.
This smooth actuation makes the NP01 switches ideal for a vast spectrum of
applications ranging from audio visual, industrial automation and test and
measurement equipment.
The NP01 Series also gives engineers the choice of high (2.5N) or standard
(1.5N) operating force. The distinctive long stroke of 1.5mm allows
operators to feel secure in the actuation of the circuit. The compact
dimensions of these switches measure just 12.5mm from PC board to the top
of the cap. They are available in SPST momentary circuit and carry a rating
of 0.4VA @ 28V AC/DC.
Unique in the industry is the alternating legend option offered with the
NP01. The bicolor red/green device can be specified with standard off the
shelf legends of ON-OFF, START-STOP or OPEN-CLOSE. This provides an
alternative to traditional methods of adding common legends, such as laser
etching or pad printing, and increases the practical functionality of the
switches.
Gold plated contacts provide extremely reliable logic-level switching. The
design allows for a conservative rating of 500,000 operations minimum of
mechanical and electrical life and the terminals are crimped to ensure
secure PC mounting and to prevent dislodging during soldering. In addition,
they are molded-in to prevent the entry of flux, solvents and other
contaminants.
A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches
offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated,
process sealed, miniature, specialty, surface mount and programmable
switches. NKK manufactures more than 3.5 million toggle, rocker,
pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches, each of
