Leading Food Distributor Nash Finch Deploys Infoblox Appliances for Core Network Services

Infoblox Infrastructure Provides Network Reliability and Reduces Administrative Overhead

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - March 23, 2009) - Infoblox Inc., a global leader in appliance-based platforms for core network services -- including domain name resolution (DNS), IP address assignment (DHCP) and IP address management (IPAM) -- today announced that Nash Finch, a Fortune 1000 company and one of the leading food distribution companies in the United States, has deployed Infoblox appliances for highly secure, reliable and manageable delivery of internal and external DNS and DHCP services.

Operating in more than 31 states and countries, Nash Finch runs a base of retail supermarkets under the Econofoods®, Family Thrift Center®, AVANZA®, Sun Mart®, and Family Fresh Market® trade names. Hundreds of thousands of general consumers rely on Nash Finch for delivery of groceries and household products.

With entities around the country relying on the Nash Finch network to ensure accurate and timely delivery of food and services, the reliability of the network and availability of its key applications is critical. This cannot be achieved without a highly reliable and secure core network services platform that offers nonstop uptime. Additionally, with limited IT resources, the manageability of these essential network systems is a key consideration.

Tom Rock, Senior Director, Technical Infrastructure at Nash Finch, commented: "DNS and DHCP are essential to the operation of our business network and since deploying Infoblox, we haven't experienced a single failure. We feel confident knowing that our core network services infrastructure is solid and reliable. The Infoblox core network services appliances have helped us significantly cut the man hours needed to maintain the systems on a day-to-day basis."

Nash Finch's previous solution, legacy general-purpose servers and software, was not designed to support the levels of scalability and manageability required. Network administrators were forced to reboot the unreliable system weekly, frequent FTP failures often coincided with DNS issues and upgrades were incredibly inefficient.

"Addressing these issues swallowed precious IT cycles and when we tried to reboot the systems, the whole network was offline to users," said Rock. "Since deploying our Infoblox appliance-based solution, we no longer have to continuously solve DNS/DHCP issues, we have had zero downtime and nothing but a positive impact on our network reliability. Infoblox allowed our IT administrators to focus on moving projects forward rather than spending their time trying to resolve DNS/DHCP support issues."

To date, Nash Finch has deployed seven Infoblox appliances in High Availability pairs. In the coming months Nash Finch has plans to expand their Infoblox deployment to enable a seamless disaster recovery plan for their core network services.
