CHARLESTON, WV--(Marketwire - May 27, 2009) - The Williamson Daily
News reports that the Williamson Kiwanis Club's 26th annual "Top of the
Class" banquet, sponsored by Massey Energy Co. (NYSE : MEE ), was "an
outstanding success with the area's top students... participating."
Mike Blackburn, a representative of Massey Energy, spoke to the audience
about Massey's ongoing commitment to education and presented the students
with plaques commemorating their excellence in education.
In addition to the financial support they provide each year to Kiwanis'
annual banquet, Massey Energy's "Partners in Education" program rewards
academic achievement and good classroom behavior by donating on average
$50,000 to $75,000 annually to support school attendance incentives and the
purchase of laptop computers and other equipment for students.
