ZUG, Switzerland, June 18, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Transocean Ltd. (NYSE:RIG) today announced that David A. Tonnel has been named Senior Vice President, Europe and Africa Unit (EAU), reporting to Rob Saltiel, Executive Vice President, Performance, effective September 1, 2009. Mr. Tonnel will be based in Paris and will succeed Ricardo H. Rosa, the current Senior Vice President, EAU, who will become Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective September 1, 2009.
Mr. Tonnel currently serves as the company's Interim Vice President of Global Supply Chain, a position he has held since November 2008. Previously, Mr. Tonnel served in financial and other roles over his 13 years with the company in several locations, including West Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States. These roles included Vice President of Integration for the Transocean and GlobalSantaFe merger, Vice President and Controller, Assistant Controller, and regional Finance Manager.
Mr. Tonnel graduated in 1991 from ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (H.E.C) in Paris, France, with a Master of Science degree in Management.
