Display Concepts' New Sunlight-Viewable Palomar SunView 8.4" LCD Monitor for NCR, Diebold, Fujitsu and Wincor-Nixdorf ATMs Now Has Lower Cost, Lower Power Consumption, Longer Life and Even Greater Readability

TUCKER, Ga., July 8, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Video Display Corporation (Nasdaq:VIDE) announces that its Display Concepts (www.display-concepts.com) division has redesigned its 8.4" sunlight-viewable LCD to improve readability, reduce power consumption, increase the lifetime and reduce the cost of this unique high-brightness ATM display.

The significantly improved model V084H1 high-brightness ATM monitor provides bright, full-color images that are easily viewable in direct sunlight. The improved design offers increased contrast for better readability. It also introduces support for the built-in automatic dimmer found in Diebold ATMs, automatically adjusting brightness in response to ambient lighting conditions to provide optimum viewing both night and day.

The improved model V084H1 is a redesign of the SunView ATM monitor line that Display Concepts acquired from Palomar Displays in 2007. A key product enhancement replaces the original fluorescent backlight with a new, more efficient LED backlight and ballast.

"Our engineering team has not only improved performance of the original SunView design, but has also created a product that is more environmentally friendly due to its lower power use and longer life," said Robert Rippberger of Display Concepts. "Field service personnel will also appreciate the lighter weight of the new LCD."

The V084H1 is fully backward compatible with the original Palomar SunView design and all bracket kits. It is a drop-in replacement for 10" CRTs and older 8.4" LCDs in NCR, Diebold, Fujitsu and Wincor-Nixdorf ATMs.

Display Concepts offers a full line of high-brightness and standard-brightness LCD screens for indoor and outdoor ATMs. The displays are designed and manufactured in western New York by VDC's Z-AXIS Inc. subsidiary, the parent company of Display Concepts. Z-AXIS specializes in high-quality video display and electronic products engineered for long life in demanding applications.
