Mule ESB's Simplicity, Openness, and Technology Leadership Provide Entertainment Partners Powerful Integration Capabilities With No Vendor Lock-In

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - July 14, 2009) - MuleSource, the company behind Mule, the
leading open source service oriented
architecture (SOA) infrastructure software, today announced that
Entertainment Partners, the leading provider of payroll and production
management solutions for the entertainment industry, has deployed Mule ESB Enterprise
for its new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Entertainment
Partners joins customers who drove 140% year-over-year quarterly bookings
growth at MuleSource, selecting Mule ESB for its developer simplicity and
powerful integration capabilities with no vendor lock-in.
Entertainment Partners uses Mule ESB Enterprise to integrate their ERP
system with several line-of-business applications, including packaged
applications, internally developed software-as-a-service (SaaS)
applications, as well as legacy systems written in C and FORTRAN. The ESB
enables a loosely coupled architecture, incorporating multiple transport
protocols, such as File, FTP, SOAP and WebSphere MQ. The new architecture
eliminates previously hard-coded integration interfaces and the resultant
run-time dependencies between applications.
"Our previous batch, file and point-to-point integration was becoming very
costly to maintain, and supporting the needed message-oriented protocols
would have required a large-scale custom development effort," said Matthew
Meyer, Director of Systems Architecture, Entertainment Partners. "We were
looking for the most sensible way to solve our integration problem, and as
we sought to make a decision, we were attracted to Mule ESB's thriving
community, flexibility, and adherence to open standards. Mule ESB gives us
a simple yet powerful tool to solve our toughest integration problems,
without the complexity, cost, or vendor lock-in of more heavyweight
proprietary offerings."
Mule ESB's open source model enabled Entertainment Partners to evaluate the
product and build initial prototypes without a daunting vendor-driven sales
process. The team was bolstered by community-driven support during the
evaluation process, as well as the transparent product roadmap.
"With Mule ESB, Entertainment Partners can solve their tough integration
problems without making invasive changes to their applications," said Phil
Bradley, vice president of sales, MuleSource. "With a subscription to Mule
ESB Enterprise, Entertainment Partners has additional access to the
enterprise-class features, stability and professional support they need to
ensure performance and stability for their mission-critical application
infrastructure."
