Online Video World Disrupted by New Open Source Entrant
Recognized by Three Independent Industry Sources in the Past Two Months, Kaltura's Unique Open Source Online Video Platform Closes In on Proprietary Vendors to Gain a Leadership Position

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - November 10, 2009) - Kaltura, Inc. (http://www.kaltura.com),
developer of the first open source video platform, today announced that it
has received wide industry recognition by three independent sources over
the past two months.
Specifically, Kaltura was named a Strong Performer in "The Forrester
Wave™: US Online Video Platforms, Q4 2009" (November 2009), an
independent research report. Kaltura received the research's highest mark
in 'customer base' and was ranked among the top three platforms across all
major evaluation categories. For more information on the research or to
download the full report, please visit

According to the report, Kaltura is a "newer entrant to the market," yet
the company has already amassed more than 35,000 "registered active
customers under its monthly or free offering." The report also states that
"Kaltura offers a highly differentiated video platform option, which allows
organizations to fully own the open source code at no charge. The company
also impresses with pioneering user-generated video that allows viewers to
remix video clips. Additionally, the open community at Kaltura.org provides
a great resource for innovation and sharing in development. As a newer
entrant to the market, Kaltura has started with a solid entry."
This comes on the heels of Kaltura's endorsement by IDC, another leading
independent research firm, as one of "10 innovative application companies
under $100M to watch." IDC places Kaltura "at the forefront of emerging
trends that will shape the future direction of software and add significant
value to businesses."
Earlier in October, Kaltura was named one of the world's five most
promising startups focused on open source at the Open World Forum in Paris.
The Open World Forum is the most important international convention
dedicated to exploring the technological, economic, and social impacts of
open technologies. The winning companies were selected based on their
innovation, quality of execution, and potential for value creation.
Kaltura's impact to the video management space was compared to that of
"Firefox to browsers, MySQL to databases, and WordPress to blogging: a free
and flexible alternative to proprietary solutions." It was further stated
that "the open-source framework allows webmasters to significantly save
time and money when developing and deploying rich-media applications,
whether those are intended for video, audio or photo sharing, for
education, healthcare, enterprise collaboration, productivity, security, or
e-commerce."
"We are honored to be continuously recognized by experts and leading
organizations as an innovative and disruptive force in the online video
space. This, coupled with the tremendous uptake by customers and the
growth of our developer community, reaffirms the need and readiness for an
open source alternative in our space," said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Chairman
and CEO. "Our open source online video platform allows for easy
customization, integration, and enhancement, it eliminates vendor lock-in,
and uniquely provides the option to self-host the platform behind one's
firewall. Coupled with a wealth of community developed and shared
applications, a base price of zero, and ancillary SaaS services at the most
affordable rates in the market, Kaltura is the most robust and
cost-effective offering around."
