SulphCo Announces Letter of Intent With Golden Gate Petroleum

HOUSTON, Nov. 13, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SulphCo, Inc. (the "Company" or "SulphCo") (NYSE Amex:SUF), a technology company with a patented ultrasound process designed to desulfurize crude oil products and crude oil, announced today it has entered into a letter of intent (the "LOI") with Golden Gate Petroleum ("Golden Gate").

Under the terms of the LOI, Golden Gate has agreed to evaluate SulphCo's Sonocracking(TM) technology to reduce the sulfur content of the diesel stream produced at Golden Gate's Nevada trans-mix facility. Beginning in June 2010, new regulations take effect which will require trans-mix processors to satisfy ultra-low sulfur diesel specifications. Upon achievement of agreed upon technical requirements to produce ultra-low sulfur diesel, SulphCo and Golden Gate intend to enter into a commercial arrangement for the installation and operation of a SulphCo Sonocracking(TM) unit at Golden Gate's facilities.

Dr. Larry D. Ryan, SulphCo's Chief Executive Officer, commented "Golden Gate represents another important step for SulphCo as we expand our efforts to become the desulfurization solution to the trans-mix market. We believe that our Sonocracking(TM) technology is uniquely capable of providing a cost effective solution for the sulfur removal challenges at Golden Gate's trans-mix facility and we look forward to working with the management of Golden Gate to accomplish their commercial and environmental goals."

This is the second LOI that SulphCo has executed to address the challenges of the trans-mix market. In September, the Company announced a similar agreement with Laguna Development Corporation, a New Mexico-based trans-mix company.
