Idaho-based Syringa Networks Expands Into Utah

BOISE, Idaho, Jan. 19, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Syringa Networks, provider of high-speed fiber optic telecommunications services, today announced the expansion of their high-speed fiber optic network into the Wasatch Front region of Northern Utah. This network expansion more than doubles the total addressable market for Syringa Networks.

The Wasatch Front is a chain of cities along the Wasatch Range that includes Ogden, Salt Lake City and Provo and is home to more than 80% of the states 2.1 million residents. This region is central to Utah’s economy, a state with the nation’s highest rate of job growth1 at 4.5% and a population growth more than twice that of the US.

The Syringa Networks expanded fiber plant will provide high speed, self-healing fiber optic network services to businesses throughout the Wasatch Front, empowering them with the infrastructure required to sustain growth and compete on a global level.

Greg Lowe, CEO of Syringa Networks said, “Utah businesses that have connection needs into rural Idaho have limited options with their current carriers. As Eastern Idaho, Boise, and Salt Lake City continue to grow there will be increased needs for high-speed connectivity within this market. Our expansion makes it easier and more cost effective for businesses with distributed branch offices to implement advanced telecommunication services.”

Lowe added, “Utah is great fit for our services and we are excited to have the opportunity to serve the business users throughout the region. Now businesses have an alternative to the incumbent providers.”

In addition to local businesses, wireless cellular and data carriers will also have the ability to take advantage of new services through Syringa Networks’ fiber-to-the-tower (FTTT) program. FTTT gives wireless carriers to meet the ever-increasing bandwidth demands created by smart phones and other wireless data devices.

The expanded footprint makes Syringa Networks the only Regional Optical Network in the Idaho-Utah market. The newly launched Utah expansion is a SONET protected 400GB capable, fiber optical network with a diverse route architecture ensuring maximum resiliency for users.
