"First quarter gross margin was 34.7% compared to adjusted gross margins of 29.5% during the same quarter of last year and 34.4% in the previous quarter. The year-over-year margin increase was driven by the Company's successful actions to increase efficiency across its operating cost structure, which offset the negative impact of lower revenue.
"According to Switz, ADCT continues to participate in several FTTX field trials with the major carriers worldwide. Reducing capital and operating costs are primary considerations of carriers worldwide and ADCT's FTTX solutions enable them to evolve their networks economically. Switz said there is strong interest in both the Company's portfolio and the experience ADCT has gained through other large scale FTTX projects. The Company sees continuing potential in China's FTTX spend where the transition from 3G to FTTX investment is underway and is expected to gain momentum over 2010 and into next year."
