"HERO this week reported a loss from continuing operations of $26.9 million, or 23 cents per diluted share, on revenues of $176.4 million for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2009, versus a loss from continuing operations of $1.1 billion, or $12.90 per diluted share, on revenues of $313.5 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2008.
"HERO owns the largest shallow-water jackup rig drilling fleet in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and the fourth largest worldwide. In addition, it also operates the world's largest inland barge drilling fleet. Expanding its geographic footprint has been a fundamental element in the Company's business strategy. It has a growing presence in the international offshore arena with 12 rigs on contract in regions such as India, Latin America, Malaysia, the Middle East and West Africa."
