8x8 Announces Appointment of Chief Technology Officer

Vice President of Engineering Ramprakash Narayanaswamy Assumes Additional Responsibilities as Chief Technology Officer


SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 8, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 8x8, Inc. (Nasdaq:EGHT), provider of innovative business communications solutions, today announced that Ramprakash Narayanaswamy, Vice President of Engineering, has been promoted to the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and will assume responsibility for the company's entire research, development and engineering operations.

As 8x8's Vice President of Engineering, Narayanaswamy led the development and execution of the company's web-based CRM and billing systems along with the product management and engineering of 8x8 Virtual Office hosted IP-PBX service and feature enhancements, including the recently introduced Virtual Office Pro unified communications suite of services. He was also responsible for the 2007 launch of the 8x8 MobileTalk cellular international calling service. In his role as CTO, Narayanaswamy will manage the overall technology direction for 8x8's voice, video, mobile and unified communications services.

Narayanaswamy has been with 8x8 since 2005 and previously served as Enterprise Software Architect at Nextance Inc., Director, Tools Architecture and Development at Bluelight.com and Senior Software Engineer at Sun Microsystems Inc. Prior to that, he held various software engineering positions with companies in the U.S. and India. Narayanaswamy's talent and expertise has been recognized numerous times throughout his career, including recipient of the "Best Engineer Award" at Sun Microsystems, "Engineering Masterpiece Award" at Bluelight.com and "Eagle Award" at Nextance Inc. He received his Masters degree in Computer Applications from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli, India.
