One Million-Plus Pound Airbus A-380 Will be First Aircraft to Use Recently Constructed Crossfield Taxiway at LAX

ADVISORY, May 23, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

WHAT:   A one million-plus pound QANTAS Airbus A380 super jumbo jet will be the first aircraft
to travel on the just-completed $88-million, 3,437-foot-long Crossfield Taxiway (new
Taxiway R), a portion of the Crossfield Taxiway Project, at Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX). When it arrives it will be greeted by a water cannon salute by two fire trucks.

The completion of Taxiway R, which came in on schedule and within budget, connects
LAX's north and south airfields, improves the safety and efficiency of aircraft ground
movements, and alleviates the periodic congestion that occurred on the airfield.
Taxiway R is the first FAA Group 6 taxiway at LAX to accommodate new large aircraft.

Sustainable elements were incorporated to reduce impacts on the environment during
construction. Existing concrete and asphalt was demolished and recycled, heavy
construction equipment used diesel particulate filters to reduce air emissions, and
reclaimed water was used for dust control.

WHEN:   Monday, May 24 2010. Media must arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. in order to be
transported by bus to the designated airfield site by 9 a.m.

VISUALS:   Media will be able to film/photograph the A380 landing and taxiing along the new crossfield
taxiway, and the water cannon salute as the aircraft travels towards the Tom Bradley
    International Terminal.

WHO:   LAX Operations Manager Ray Jack will be available to answer questions from the media.

WHERE:   Media must meet on the north side of 96th Street, across from the Airport Police Station
at 6320 West 96th Street (immediately west of Sepulveda Boulevard). From there, LAX
public relations staff will direct media to a nearby parking location to board an airfield
    vehicle.
