Cannondale and Ivan Basso Attack the Tour de France With the Yellow Jersey in Mind

The Giro d'Italia Winner to Race His Cannondale SuperSix to the Tour de France Finish Line -- Consumers Can Ride Along With Basso at Cannondale.com for a Chance to Win the SuperSix

BETHEL, CT--(Marketwire - July 1, 2010) -  Giro d'Italia champion and Team Liquigas-Doimo rider Ivan Basso has finished his preparation for the Tour de France and is heading to Rotterdam, Holland for the start of the world renowned competition with his Cannondale SuperSix Hi-MOD. Basso, the recent winner of the Giro d'Italia, is pegged as a frontrunner for the race which runs from July 3rd through the 25th. Consumers can experience the thrill of the 21 stages and earn a chance to win the SuperSix Hi-MOD by following Basso and the rest of the tour at Cannondale.com.

"I'm really happy to have won the 5th Giro d'Italia title for Cannondale. Now, I want to bring them a Tour de France win! I've trained hard, and am determined to give it my all!" said Ivan Basso.

"The Cannondale SuperSix Hi-MOD is the ultimate riding weapon in a long stage race," said Bob Burbank, General Manager, Cannondale. "With a Cannondale SuperSix you can climb better, take corners faster, and be more efficient with every pedal stroke. As Basso, and everyone else who has ridden a Cannondale SuperSix knows, these are all critical features for riding in a race that lasts three weeks."

About The Bike
The Cannondale SuperSix is the lightest, stiffest carbon road frame in Cannondale's line of bicycles, boasting the ultimate in pedaling efficiency, super comfort and refined handling. New carbon-fabrication methods shave the complete frame weight to only 900 grams in a 56 cm size, 150 grams lighter than earlier SuperSix models.

The frame construction boasts a monocoque front triangle for the best possible performance from each tube. Separate seat and chain stay layups are mitered and then overwrapped to front triangle for maximum stiffness. The absence of lugs achieves a lighter frame weight without losing power transfer, while retaining the unique "Cannondale feel". Cannondale is a premium brand of the Cycling Sports Group, a division of Dorel Industries (TSX: DII.B) (TSX: DII.A).

Road Racing Tips:
Inspired by the Tour de France? Road racing is easier to get into then you may think. Here are five tips from Ivan Basso, recent winner of the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France Contender

1. Get a bike that's designed for road racing and supports your performance levels. I ride the SuperSix offered by Cannondale because it's great in different types of conditions, from the steepest climbs to the sharpest turns. Visit Cannondale.com to find bikes and bike dealers for all levels of riding.

2. Find a local cycling club. Road racing is a team sport and it's important that you learn early on how to race within a team and know the rules of the road.

3. Train smart. Just before a race, taper your training and rest so that you're ready to compete.

4. Remember that there's a beginning, middle and end to the race. Start slow and pace yourself. Even if you're in the best of shape, cycling uses different muscles than other endurance sports and your body will need time to adapt to perform at optimal levels.

5. Ride with passion.
