Viking Systems Provides Corporate Presentation and Update on 3DHD Surgical System

WESTBOROUGH, Mass., July 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Viking Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:VKNG)  filed a Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 21, 2010  providing investors with a corporate presentation summarizing the Company's business, market opportunities for its 3DHD technology and related strategy.  The presentation can also be found on the Company's website at: www.globenewswire.com/newsroom/ctr%3Fd=180486%26amp;l=6%26amp;a=www.vikingsystems.com%26amp;u=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.vikingsystems.com" target="_top" rel="nofollow">www.vikingsystems.com

Viking Systems is in the final phases of its Next Generation 3DHD Visualization System product development and plans the market launch of this product at the American College of Surgeons 96th Clinical Congress, October 3-7, 2010 in Washington D. C.  The Company believes that at launch this system will be the only cost effective, standalone 3DHD solution available for minimally invasive surgery.

The "Next Gen" product is planned to provide the following advantages over the current 3D product marketed by the Company:

  • The system will have both 2D and 3D viewing options.
  • The image quality will be improved to full High Definition.
  • A Sony 3DHD flat panel display will replace the head mounted displays currently marketed by the Company.
  • The system is expected to be priced significantly below Viking's current 3D system.

The Company has reported an overwhelmingly positive response to the prototype Next Generation 3DHD Visualization System at various forums where surgeons and other attendees had the opportunity to experience or learn about the benefits of Viking's system. The Company believes that performing complex minimally invasive procedures with a 3D vision system has the potential not only to improve the quality of care but also to reduce procedure time and therefore cost of procedures.
