TIE Technologies Proposes Rescue to Lake Michigan Shoreline

EPA Estimates One Million Gallon Oil Spill Threatens Fish and Wildlife

NEW YORK, Aug. 3, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TIE Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:TTCS), who operates a portfolio of Homeland Security assets focused on environmental disaster remediation and security driven by proprietary smart logistics, telemetrics, and advanced IT solutions, today announced the submission of its Emergency Containment Proposal to keep oil spill away from the shores of the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan, contain it and enable its removal.

The proposal was submitted to the State of Michigan, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, EPA's Homeland Security Research Center and the U.S. Coast Guard for immediate consideration. The agencies estimate that over 1 million gallons of oil has spilled into the Kalamazoo River as a result of a ruptured pipeline owned and operated by the Canadian oil company Enbridge Inc.

Jay Wesley, a biologist with the state of Michigan, said the oil spill had killed fish in "very limited numbers along the affected stretch of the river from Marshall westward into Battle Creek,…. insects, algae, frogs and turtles along the river have been killed in high numbers -- which could hurt the fish food supply." "The effects are probably going to be more long-term," Wesley said. "We probably won't know the full effects for weeks or months or years."

"We are fully committed to expanding our technology driven product line to meet the rising demand for protections being mandated by governments across the globe to ensure the safety of our shorelines and ecosystems from potential industrial disasters." Edward Andercheck, Chairman and CEO of TIE Technologies Inc, stated, "TIE is projecting substantial revenue growth from the environmental remediation sector; we expect this product line to be evergreen."
