ABEL Medical Software Inc.'s ABELMed EHR--EMR/PM v11 Receives ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Certification

BUFFALO, N.Y., Oct. 5, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ABEL Medical Software Inc. announced today that ABELMed EHR–EMR/PM v11 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as a Complete EHR on September 30, 2010 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable ELIGIBLE PROVIDER (EP) certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Chairman and CEO Arun Rele stated, "ABEL Medical Software Inc. is proud to be a market leader in providing certified, user friendly, practice enhancing healthcare IT solutions that assist physicians to become meaningful EHR users and receive their stimulus funding as quickly and effortlessly as possible. ABEL has certified our EHR product annually since certification began in 2006 and on November 20, 2009 ABELMed EHR–EMR/PM v11 was the first electronic health record (EHR) product to achieve CCHIT Certified® 2011 Comprehensive conditional certification. Now again, ABELMed EHR–EMR/PM v11 is in the first group of the certified products to achieve the ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Certification. We believe the ONC-ATCB certification revalidates that we are a leading EHR manufacturer with a state-of-the-art product and are committed to delivering certified solutions that make it easy for physicians and other healthcare providers to implement interoperable Electronic Health Records and to providing software features along with optional implementation monitoring services that will quickly gauge how well a physician is performing against the meaningful use requirements."

The ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that Complete EHRs meet all of the 2011/2012 criteria and EHR Modules meet one or more – but not all – of the criteria approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) for either eligible provider or hospital technology.

"CCHIT is pleased to be testing and certifying products so that companies are now able to offer these products to providers who wish to purchase and implement certified EHR technology and achieve meaningful use in time for the 2011-2012 incentives," said Karen M. Bell, M.D., M.S.S., Chair, CCHIT. 2011/2012 certification conferred by CCHIT does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services nor does it guarantee the receipt of incentive payments.
