Eleven Couples Will Receive Personalized Love Songs by Green River Ordinance Via Live Webcam Performances

SEATTLE, Nov. 2, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Have you ever dreamed of the ultimate engagement? Have you ever wanted a rock band to write a song about your love story? This holiday season, your dream might come true.

Blue Nile, Inc. (Nasdaq:NILE), the leading online retailer of diamonds and fine jewelry, today announced the launch of "Ring It. Sing It." -- an online contest that gives one lucky couple the chance to experience the ultimate engagement with a live proposal at NASDAQ, while serenaded by Josh Jenkins of Green River Ordinance and singer/actress Katharine McPhee. Eleven additional couples will receive a one-of-a-kind song about their love written and performed by pop-rock band Green River Ordinance and a beautiful Infinity Love Knot Pendant from Blue Nile.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with these talented musicians to create a unique, interactive program this holiday season," said Diane Irvine, Chief Executive Officer, Blue Nile. "From a live, dream proposal in New York to a chance to have a custom song written and performed about their personal love story, we are helping consumers celebrate the holidays in the ways that matters most -- by bringing them even closer to the ones they love."

"Ring It."

The first part of the contest "Ring It." launches today and will culminate on Cyber Monday (Monday, Nov. 29) with a NASDAQ first -- a live proposal. Blue Nile, who is ringing the Opening Bell to kickoff the online holiday shopping season, will provide the couple with an all-expenses-paid trip to New York and the groom-to-be with a custom diamond ring for the proposal. Green River Ordinance lead singer Josh Jenkins will serenade the couple in a live, acoustic performance of the band's hit song "Endlessly," and Katharine McPhee will perform "It's Not Christmas Without You" from her recently launched holiday album, Christmas is the Time… To Say I Love You. The proposal will take place during the 9:30 a.m. ET Opening Bell ceremony at NASDAQ and will be broadcast live in Times Square.

"I'm so excited to be able to share my holiday music with the winning couple at this wonderful time in their relationship," said singer and actress Katharine McPhee. "There is nothing more romantic than the moment you get engaged, and 'It's Not Christmas Without You' will be the perfect song to ring in the occasion."

"Sing It."

Winners of the weekly contest "Sing It." will have their love story put to music. Green River Ordinance, who has toured with acts like David Cook, Train and the Goo Goo Dolls, will serenade the couple with a personalized song performed and recorded using ooVoo, a high-quality video communication service, to share with friends, family and the world via social media.

"Couples traditionally pick love songs that have special meaning to their relationship but very few get to have the chance to have a song that incorporates actual elements of their personal story," said Josh Jenkins, lead singer of Green River Ordinance. "There's power in those details that they will never forget, and we're excited to be able to create lasting, loving memories for 11 couples this holiday season."

ooVoo will provide the winning couples a recording of the serenade using the highest quality video and audio technology allowing them to cherish this momentous occasion as a keepsake. Also, ooVoo will be delivering the winning couples ooVoo starter kits, with a webcam, headset and easy steps to download ooVoo.
