Amnet Telecommunications Upgrades to Next-Gen OSS With Sigma Systems

Sigma Systems' Device Provisioning Manager to Automate the Provisioning and Activation of Amnet's Voice and Broadband Bundle in Central America

TORONTO--(Marketwire - November 15, 2010) -  Sigma Systems, an industry leader in Advanced IP Service Fulfillment solutions, and Amnet, a cable and broadband provider with operations in Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador, announced today that Amnet will upgrade its Operational Support System (OSS) environment with Sigma Systems' Device Provisioning Manager. Amnet has approximately 534,000 revenue generating units (RGUs) across Central America. Amnet was acquired by Millicom (NASDAQ: MICC) in 2008, and operates as part of Millicom's Tigo family of operators, which is rapidly growing in both cable and broadband subscribers throughout the Latin America region.

Device Provisioning Manager, which is part of the Sigma Systems next-generation OSS portfolio of IP service fulfillment solutions, will allow Amnet to:

  • Simplify activation and management of its VoIP and high-speed Internet services as part of a double-play bundle
  • Cost-effectively scale as its subscriber base grows
  • Auto-configure and provision business and residential customer-premises equipment, including PacketCable™, SIP, DOCSIS 3.0 and IPv6 devices

"Sigma Systems has been a valuable partner for Amnet for many years," said Vincencio Maya, Regional CTO of Amnet. "By utilizing Sigma Systems' Device Provisioning Manager, we can easily provision and activate services for our growing base of triple-play subscribers without any impact on their service. This seamless process is invaluable to our customers, allowing Amnet to provide the best possible end-user experience."

"With its aggressive roll out of advanced IP service bundles in Central America, Amnet is a leading example of next-gen operators that are seeking to deliver the latest advanced offerings and need best-of-breed OSS solutions to meet its business objectives," said Tim Spencer, president and COO of Sigma Systems. "Sigma Systems is proud to continue its longstanding relationship with Amnet."

"As telecom service operators in Latin America experience exponential growth in subscribers, services and devices all at the same time, our Device Provisioning Manager gives them a proven solution to efficiently manage their offerings and CPE, which helps operators improve their time to market for new services and increase customer satisfaction," said Alejandro Couce, Sigma Systems' head of Caribbean and Latin America region.
