Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI(SM)) Improves for Third-Straight Month

Rises 5 Points in November to Neutral Reading of -8; Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI(SM)) Unchanged at Zero

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - November 24, 2010) - Spectrem Group announced today that its Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI(SM)) rose 5 points in November to -8, representing its third-consecutive monthly advance.

This brings the affluent index, which measures the investment confidence and outlook of households with $500,000 or more in investable assets, into neutral territory from mildly bearish.

Meanwhile, the Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI(SM)) remained unchanged at zero, also a neutral reading.

"Affluent investors showed increased confidence in the investment environment for a third-straight month in November, moving to a neutral outlook from mildly bearish. This advance narrowed their gap with the traditionally more optimistic millionaire population, whose confidence remained unchanged for the month, and came as both groups remained highly focused on the political climate following the Nov. 2 midterm elections," said George H. Walper, Jr., President of Spectrem Group.

In response to an open-ended question about the news story most affecting their economic outlook, affluent investors in November cited: the political environment (46%); the economy (5%); unemployment (5%); tax cuts (5%); health care reform (5%); European problems (5%) and stock market conditions (1%). Those choosing the political environment rose from 18% in August 2010, the last time this question was asked, while those citing the economy fell from 11%.

Millionaires were slightly more focused on the political environment (47%) than the affluent, but less focused on the economy (2%).
