Telvent to Supply Distributed Control Systems for Pemex Power Plant

Telvent's Smart Grid Solution Will Help Cogeneration Plant in Mexico Operate More Efficiently

ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 27, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent (Nasdaq:TLVT), the leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that its distributed control system (DCS) was selected for the Nuevo Pemex Cogeneration Power Plant built and operated by Abener in Tabasco, Mexico.

With this solution, Pemex will have the ability to monitor all cogeneration plant processes to accommodate changing conditions and optimize efficiencies. The company will have access to reliable, real-time information to maximize production and adjust its power plant operations as needed. Ultimately, this Telvent smart grid solution will help the cogeneration plant provide more efficient electricity to Mexico's national power grid by redistributing the excess power to other centers.

According to Telvent's CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez, "For many years, Telvent technology and expertise have been utilized by various Mexican enterprises with great success. This project continues Telvent's leadership in the energy industry and in the region, while further demonstrating our advances in innovation."
