Inventive Products From Ireland-Based Companies on Display at This Weekend's General Merchandise Marketing Conference in Florida

BOSTON, MA and ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - Jun 2, 2011) - This weekend, a select group of Ireland-based companies will showcase their newest products at the 2011 General Merchandise Marketing Conference to be held in Orlando, Florida. Staged by the Global Market Development Center (GMDC), the event pairs international wholesalers and retailers with buyers in an intimate format structured to optimize connections and accelerate sales engagements. Irish participants include: Access America, Auld Sod Gifts and Clevamama. Also attending is Allergy Standards Ltd. All are clients of Enterprise Ireland, the government organization responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets.

"Ireland-based companies are developing and commercializing some of the world's most inventive, relevant and category-leading products," said Dave McConnell, President and CEO of GMDC. "GMDC is proud to play a leading role in helping these vendors establish strong positions for their one-of-a-kind products within the retail and wholesale communities in the US and Puerto Rico."

Access America will showcase a selection of high-quality Irish-made products that include the Cush'n Shade®, an award-winning portable UV sunshade; the Sweep Easy®, an innovative sweeping broom; the Spider Catcher®, a clever and more friendly way to catch and release insects; and the Popitball®, a popular new soccer game for kids.

Allergy Standards Ltd. (ASL) continues to draw top-tier brands into its expanding portfolio of US customers. Leading textile company, Hollander Home Fashions is the latest to receive ASL's asthma and allergy friendly™ certification for its natural feather and down bedding products. ASL is a physician-led global certification company that prepares independent standards for testing products to determine their suitability for asthmatics and individuals with associated allergies.

Auld Sod Gifts will display its flagship shamrock and flower-growing gift sets. Tapping into growing sentiment from the Irish Diaspora for genuine Irish soil for commemorative plantings, the company developed a process to produce the rich dark soil that supported their Irish ancestors in a manner that meets the importation standards set by the US Department of Agriculture and other regulatory authorities.

Clevamama is bringing to US parents a range of unique baby and infant-care products that parents in Ireland and other countries have grown to love. With an eye for practicality and affordability, Clevamama products feature exceptional design and include items for bed, bath and feeding. Major outlets like Mothercare, Amazon and Tesco are already carriers of the Clevamama products.

The General Merchandise Conference will be held at the JW Marriott Orlando Hotel in Grande Lakes, Orlando from June 3-7. To connect with the Irish companies, please contact Ann Marie Maxwell at annmarie.maxwell@enterprise-ireland.com.
